Printed cushions come in two forms and the distinction matters for both price and use. A cushion cover is
the fabric shell on its own: you supply the insert, or reuse one you already have. A complete throw pillow
arrives filled and ready to put on the sofa. Covers are cheaper to buy and cheaper to ship, they can be
removed and washed properly, and they let you swap designs seasonally over one set of inserts. Complete
pillows are simpler if you have nothing to start from.

misunderstanding in this category, and it is easily avoided.
Who buys printed cushions
People styling a sofa or bed who want colour and personality without repainting. Renters, for the same
reason as wall art — it is decorating you can take with you. Plant people extending a botanical palette
from the shelf onto the seating. And gift buyers looking for a housewarming or new-home present that is
more personal than a candle and less presumptuous than furniture.
Buyer’s guide: what to look for
Size, and the insert rule that actually matters
18×18 inches is the standard square throw pillow size and the one that works on almost every sofa. The rule
worth knowing is this: buy an insert one to two inches larger than the cover. An 18-inch cover with an
18-inch insert looks limp and half-empty at the corners; an 18-inch cover with a 20-inch insert is full,
plump and looks like it came from a showroom. This single detail is the difference between cushions that
look styled and cushions that look tired, and it costs nothing to get right.
Fabric and how the print sits on it
Printed cushion fabric is a compromise between two things: it has to take ink cleanly, and it has to feel
acceptable to lean against. A tighter weave holds fine detail better; a heavier, more textured fabric feels
more substantial but softens fine lines. Neither is universally better — it depends on whether you are
buying for a design that is mostly bold shapes or one with delicate detail. The fabric used for each item

One side printed or two
Most printed cushions carry the design on the front panel with a plain reverse. That is usually what you
want: a plain back gives you a neutral option when you flip it, and it keeps the cost down. If you need the
design visible from both sides — a cushion on a bed that is seen from either end, or on a chair in the
middle of a room — check the product page, because double-sided printing is a separate specification.
Closure and washability
A cushion cover you cannot remove is a cushion cover you cannot clean, and on a sofa that is a real
problem. Look for a concealed zip or an envelope closure that lets the cover come off. Then follow the care
label: printed fabric generally wants a cool wash and air drying, and it does not want a hot tumble dryer,
which is what fades prints and shrinks covers away from their inserts.

Fabric composition, weave and whether an insert is included vary between items and are confirmed on the
individual product page. We do not quote a single fabric or GSM for the range, because that would not be
true of every product.
Living room and sofa styling
The reliable formula for a sofa is odd numbers and mixed scale: two or three cushions rather than a
symmetrical pair, in at least two different visual weights — one bold pattern or statement design, one
quieter piece. Symmetry looks like a hotel; slight asymmetry looks like a home. If your sofa is a strong
colour, let the cushions be the calm element. If the sofa is neutral, which most are, the cushions are
where the room gets its personality.
Plant lovers and botanical home decor
Botanical designs are the workhorse of soft furnishing because green is effectively a neutral. A botanical
cushion sits happily against grey, beige, navy or wood without anyone having to think about a colour
scheme, and it visually connects a sofa to the actual plants in the room.

How made-to-order works
Everything on this page is a physical product that does not exist until you buy it. There is no warehouse
shelf with your design sitting on it. When your order comes through, the artwork is sent to a production
partner, printed onto a blank item, quality-checked, packed and posted to your address. That is what
“print on demand” or “made to order” means, and it is worth understanding before you click buy, because it
changes what you should expect from the timeline.
The practical consequence is that there are two clocks running, not one. The first is production: the time
it takes to print, cure or press your item and get it boxed. For most printed goods this is a few business
days rather than a few hours, and it stretches during peak gifting periods when every print queue in the
industry is busy. The second clock is shipping, which depends on where you are and how customs treats the
parcel if it crosses a border. We do not publish a single delivery date here because a single date would be
a guess, and a guess dressed up as a promise is worse than no number at all. The individual product page is
where current production and delivery estimates live, and your order confirmation is where tracking appears.
Why this is different from our instant downloads
Most of the Pixquo catalogue is digital. If you buy a printable planner, a wall-art file or a sticker sheet
PDF, the file lands in your account and inbox straight away and you print it yourself. There is no
production queue, no courier and no customs form. That is the right choice when you need something tonight,
when you want to print the same page fifty times, or when you are buying for someone in a country we do not
ship to easily.
The products on this page are the opposite trade. You give up the instant gratification and you get a
finished object: a ceramic mug that survives the dishwasher, a cut vinyl decal, a poster printed on proper
stock, a shirt somebody can wear. Nothing here is emailed to you and nothing here can be downloaded. If you
are shopping close to a deadline, buy the physical item early or buy the digital equivalent instead — the
printable version is genuinely the better answer when the occasion is tomorrow.
What ordering actually looks like
- You place the order and pay. Nothing is printed yet.
- The design file goes to the production partner and enters the print queue.
- Your item is printed, cured or pressed, checked and packed. This normally takes a few business days.
- The parcel is handed to a carrier and tracking is issued.
- Transit time depends on your destination, and on customs if the parcel crosses a border.
Because each item is produced individually, small variations between one order and the next are normal
rather than defects: the exact placement of a design can shift by a millimetre or two, and printed colour
will never match a backlit phone screen precisely. What should never vary is the legibility of the artwork,
the finish of the item or the build quality. If something arrives damaged, misprinted or genuinely wrong,
contact us with a photo and we will sort it out.
